About the Curonian Spit
Neringa is one of the most beautiful resorts of the Baltic Sea region.
A large number of tourists visiting Lithuania every year, come to see this Baltic pearl. Since 2000, the Curonian Spit has been on the UNESCO's World Heritage List as an object of cultural landscape. Sand dunes with its rare flora, the coastal forest with century-old trees and human hand-planted mountain pines, white sand beaches stretching for 50 km, beautiful and stylishly arranged urban infrastructure, the smell of smoked fish, plenty of culture and sporting events are the distinguishing features of this unique region which makes the Spit attractive to both Lithuanian and foreign tourists.
During the high season, the climate here is warm and mild. Since Neringa is far from the mainland, it has more sunny days than the average throughout Lithuania.
Solar UV radiation is not very high and is never harmful to your health.
The measurements of 4 years permit an assumption that the solar UV index (UVI) in Lithuania is usually 4 - 6 (average).
For example, at the end of May 2005, in the countries favoured by tourists – Egypt, Turkey, Southeast Asia, the Canary Islands, UVI was 11-12. The UVI of 9 and more is extreme so in order to preserve one‘s health, one can stay in the sun without protection only up to 10 minutes in these countries.
Preila Settlement
Preila is a unique settlement of the Spit distinguished by its authentic environment and beautiful beach.
It is situated in the shelter of the planted dunes, at the Curonian Lagoon. It is a tiny and cosy place 39 km away from Klaipėda and 10 km from Nida. Its population is about 200.
Camping here may be both active (biking, boat sailing, fishing, excursions etc.) and passive (lying on the beach, reading, movies etc.).
Preila is crossed by the bike trail connecting Nida and Juodkrantė.
The total number – 17 (5 are already booked).
Small: 20 to 40 square meters, but extremely homey, bright, and spacious.
Each suite has a car parking.
Full rehabilitation of the environment has been made.
In the nearest future they will be equipped with the Internet and cable television system.
There is a receptionist room in the building.
A housing community will be established, and a person will be responsible for your apartment and take care of its rent, security and environment issues.
Modern security systems will let you know when and how many times the apartment was visited, and the Internet connection to the video surveillance system of the building will allow you to see the building surroundings directly.
Information about the opportunity of renting apartments will be advertised in popular internet portals and personal websites.
The planned duration of the construction:
On May 7, 2009 we received the construction permit.
The beginning of reconstruction is scheduled for October 2010. The reconstruction will be completed in June 2011.
